About MzansiAcademyKids
A subscription-based, ad-free learning platform for South African children aged 2-10 — building multilingual, digitally capable, culturally grounded Future Leaders.
Why we built this
MzansiAcademyKids started as a single-purpose Setswana vocabulary app. It has grown — deliberately, not by accident — into a whole-child AI-assisted learning coach: a daily companion that teaches South African languages, coding literacy, and healthy habits; adapts its pace to how each child is actually doing; and turns what it observes into feedback a parent can act on, not just a dashboard of numbers.
We were inspired by Khan Academy Kids’ child-first, joyful, learning-through-play philosophy — but built from the ground up for South African languages, cultures, and family structures, most of which are simply absent from the mainstream ed-tech catalogue.
What we believe
- Every feature has a job. Teach and reinforce real skills, coach and adapt to the child in front of it, or report something a parent can actually use. Feature count is not the goal — outcomes for the child are.
- Children are not an ad audience. Zero ad SDKs, zero sponsored behavioural targeting, ever.
- South African context is not an afterthought. Vernacular language, local foods, local culture — built in from the start, not bolted on later.
- Privacy is a default, not a setting. POPIA compliant, no long-term audio storage, no location data, no social features for children under 13.
Who we are
MzansiAcademyKids is built and operated by an independent South African developer team. We’re a small team building deliberately, one honest feature at a time, rather than chasing feature count.
